US President Joe Biden is set to speak at the Morehouse College graduation in Atlanta, Georgia. This comes after students at Atlanta University Center protested against Biden’s stance on Israel’s actions in Gaza and asked for Biden to not be invited to the event. The Atlanta HBCU alumni association had petitioned the administration not to invite Biden to their event.
Students staged a silent walkout during Virginia Commonwealth University’s graduation ceremony to protest US President Joe Biden’s remarks on student protests. Earlier in the day, Biden had criticised the students, saying that some of them used “violent” methods. During his address, Biden had also said that he’s not against “patriotic” protesters but that they should “find a new way of doing it”.
The US Department of Education has notified Kurt Panton that under President Joe Biden’s ‘Big Loan repayment plan’, he now qualifies to have his remaining $18,000 in loans forgiven, 20 years since his first payment. Panton, who’s been repaying his student loans consistently for 19 years, said he didn’t think the government would issue such an email. “That’s disappointing,” he added.
